The Spider And A Saint A Short Inspirational Story With Moral

It is a story of a saint who was meditating near the river. After he completed his meditation, the Saint opened his eyes and saw a spider floating helplessly in the river for his survival. As the spider was washed near to the tree, the Saint immediately extended himself on one of the long roots that spread out into the river and reached out to save the drowning spider. As soon as the saint touched it, the spider bites him. Impulsively Saint pulled back his hand.

A moment later, after he had recaptured his balance, he extended himself again on the roots to save the spider. This time the spider bite him so badly that his hand got swollen and wicked and his face distorted with torment.

At that point, a person passing by saw the Saint loosened up on the roots battling with the spider and yelled: “you fool man, what's wrong with you? Only a stupid and mad person would risk his life for the sake of an ugly, bad animal. Don't you realize you could kill yourself trying to save that unreasonable spider?"

The Saint turned around. Seeing into the stranger's eyes he said gently, "My friend, since it is the spider's nature to bite, that would not change my nature to save others."
