Tricky Wolf Story

There are many jungles among the hilly areas in South India . They are full of trees . Many wild berries and other fruits grow there . The foxes and wolves get plenty of food in the jungles . Sometimes travellers can hear the animals howling in the distance.

An  old fruit seller passed by daily with his three-tier fruit cart . He sold fruits in a far away market and earned his living. His cart was always full of tasty fruits . He  covered them with a cloth to keep them juicy longer.

Blackie the wolf saw the fruit seller . He smelt the fruit in the cart. He wanted to eat all kinds of fruit and thought of a plan.

" The fruit seller is old. He parks his cart here and there whenever he is tired . I can easily squeeze myself under the cloth and sit among the fruits while he is not looking . I will eat to my heart 's content and run away. The old man will not know anything,'' he said to himself.

Blackie jumped into the lower side of the cart  and squeeze himself  among  the fruits when the fruit seller was not looking. He ate and ate. When he was full he quietly jumped off and ran away. In this manner the wolf tasted many fruits which he did not get in the jungle. The  old  man did not know this.

One day in summer , the fruit seller filled his cart with jackfruits. They were big and spiny. As usual, Blackie jumped into the lower side of the cart.

The jackfruit spine hurt Blackie 's back and he groaned and groaned. As he pushed the cart , the fruit seller thought the cart wheels were squeaking and he looked at them. ' Nothing is wrong, ' he thought and moved on. ''This is strange,'' he said to himself and went on.

The wolf turned and changed his position. ''I am comfortable in the jungle. These fruits are too prickly. My body is hurting all over. If matters are going to be like this, it is  too risky to jump into the cart and get off. One day I will get caught'' and so saying , he jumped off howling in pain and ran away. The fruit seller saw the wolf as he disappeared among the trees.

"I must be more careful with my things in the future," said the fruit seller.

It is not good to steal and eat.
